CELL PHONES may only be used in the class to take photographs of art work in progress and to listen to music when given permission by the teacher. Only 1 earbud may be used, NO HEADPHONES, and students are NOT allowed to plug their phone into a wall outlet or a school laptop. If you need to reach your child or have your child call you during class the student may use the class phone (must be a local number). If a student violates the rules on cell phone use in the art room the electronic device will be taken and and turned into either the Dean's or the main office for the parent to pick up after school. Students may not use the laptops in the room to connect to music or games.

Students in this class need the following

THE STUDENT MUST BRING THEIR VISUAL ART JOURNAL and writing/color pencils TO CLASS EVERYDAY
Students will be working on assignments determined by Ms. Beach that fall within the state course description. It will be the student’s responsibility to follow all steps in each unit of study. Each student must maintain a Visual Art Journal, which will include units of study research, plans, documentation of artwork, and reflective essays for each artwork. |
Classroom Folders- each student has been given a folder to keep for this class. Students are responsible for keeping all papers given to them by the teacher in this folder. The student folder may not be removed from the classroom!
Student Portfolio - each student has been given a portfolio to keep their artwork in various stages (planning, work in progress, and finished pieces).
Unit of study finished art projects essays will be written using Feldman's approach to art criticism. (see pdf file for instructions)
